MASSAPEQUA, NY. — It was signing day at Massapequa High School Thursday, as the school held a letter of intent signing ceremony for 33 college-bound student athletes.

During the ceremony, student-athletes received congratulations from Superintendent Dr. William Brennan, Principal Barbara Lowell, Interim Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Recreation Matt McLees and Physical Education and Athletics Chairperson Brian Rath.

“This is a fun day, an exciting day,” Rath said. “It’s well-earned and well deserved.”

In McLees’ eyes, the students are prepared for whatever the next level throws at them, academically or athletically, because they’ve been able to handle four years at Massapequa High School. McLees also told the students to thank the people who made their journeys possible, including coaches, parents and teachers.

For their parts, district officials said Lowell told the students the four years they spend as college athletes will be some of the best of their lives, while Brennan reminded them to remain disciplined at the next level.
