41-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Merrick Road Crash: Police
Police say the crash took place at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.
MASSAPEQUA, NY. — A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead after being hit by a 2019 Hyundai on Merrick Road Wednesday morning, police said.
Nassau County police said the woman was struck while crossing Merrick Road at the intersection with Bayview Avenue at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday when the Hyundai, being operated by a 27-year-old driver, struck her. The woman suffered severe body trauma, police said, and was hospitalized in a police department ambulance. She was pronounced dead by hospital staff, police said.
The driver of the Hyundai remained on the scene and an investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said. Police did not report any arrests or charges related to the crash Wednesday afternoon, nor did they identify the woman.
