Slaughtered Chickens Found in Massapequa Preserve
Incident happened late Friday afternoon, police said.

Chickens were found slaughtered and disemboweled after a possible ritual activity Friday in Massapequa Preserve, according to Nassau County Police.
Officers found the gruesome scene in a remote part of the preserve at 4:30 p.m., cops said. A 911 caller had reported an injured chicken and several others that had been dissected and gutted, police said.
Responders also found a “possible ritual setting” with candles and a yellow bandana nailed to a tree, officials said.

The surviving chicken was taken from the scene by Town of Oyster Bay Animal Control.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the unusual incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
