Solemnity and Schools Open This Week
Here's what's happening this week in and around the Massapequa area.

Things get into full swing in the area this week as school starts. Some voters will go to the polls and we remember those we lost 12 years ago.
Here's a look ahead:
School's Open: While other districts hel class for a day or two last week, the Massapequa school district waited until after Rosh Hashanah to bring students in. But the vacation officially ends Monday.
Sports: With the opening of school comes the start of Fall sports. The Chiefs will see action in Field Hockey and Golf as well as the football opener on Thursday.
Primary: Democrats will choose their candidate for County Executive on Tuesday as primaries will be held around New York State.
Village Meeting: The Massapequa Park Village Board will meet Monday at 8 p.m. and consider resolutions related to the village taxi franchise and a request to solicit by Cablevision.
9/11: Finally, on Wednesday, we will mark the 12th anniversary of the 2001 terror attacks on US soil. There will be several memorial ceremonies in the area including the Town of Oyster Bay's Memorial Monday at TOBAY Beach at 7 p.m.
