Family Member Speaks Out
Kimberly Overstreet, sister of Costello, said she felt grateful for a break in the case, reports said.
"It brings me peace to know that my sister is laying with my family," Overstreet told News 12."And that if my parents were here, if my sister was here, she would say 'Thank you, and I forgive him.' An 'Outlier' In Serial Killing Field
Louis Schlesinger, a professor of psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, told Patch that Heuermann's profile makes him an "outlier" in the field of serial killers.
“The one thing that kind of surprised me is — I'm never surprised by anything — is that [Heuermann’s] an architect,” he told Patch. He added: “The vast majority of these guys are not college graduates.”
Heuermann is the owner of the Manhattan-based RH Consulting, a building facilitator for the city's Department of Building, and helped clients navigate the construction process, and has worked in Manhattan since 1987, according to his interview with Bonjour Realty last year.
The perpetrators are “unusually unemployed, low-level, unskilled types of people,” he added.
Schlesinger wants his comments kept in perspective, as he has not completed a psychological evaluation of Heuermann, who has been placed on suicide watch at an undisclosed facility in the Suffolk County correctional facility.
