LI Town Hosting Little League World Series Watch Party This Friday

Residents can come out to the Massapequa Coast's home field and cheer them on as they compete in the Little League World Series.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay will be hosting a watch party on Friday so residents can come out and cheer on the Massapequa Coast Little League as they play in the Little League World Series.

Massapequa Coast is the first team from Long Island to make it to the Little League World Series in more than 40 years. They play their first game at 7 p.m. Friday, against either the team out of Bonney Lake, Washington or Honolulu, Hawaii. Those two teams are facing off Wednesday for their spot.

The Town of Oyster Bay will be live streaming the Massapequa Coast's first game at John Burns Park in Massapequa — on the fields where the Massapequa Coast usually plays.

"We are so proud of our hometown champions and congratulate them on earning a place in the World Series in Williamsport after winning the Metro Region Championships last week," said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "These dedicated athletes have the honor of making history as they were the first team to advance to the regionals, and now the first to compete in the Little League World Series, in Coast Little League's 72-year history. We invite the community to come out and root for the home team this Friday night at Burns Park!"

Those coming out to watch the game should bring chairs, blankets and coolers to the watch party. The game will be live-streamed on ESPN and will be broadcast on a big screen for all in attendance at Burns Park Friday night. If the Coast wins, their next game will be on Monday, Aug. 22.
