LI Little League Boys, Girls Face Upcoming World Series Games
The Massapequa Coast plays in the Metro Region, while the Massapequa International softball squad awaits its first World Series opponent.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — There is plenty of excitement in Massapequa, if not all of Long Island. One group of little leaguers is World Series bound, while another is hoping to reach the showcase.
The boys from the Massapequa Coast team play this weekend in the Little League World Series Metro Region.

While they look to advance to the Little League World Series starting Aug. 16 in Williamsport, PA, another local squad is in the big tournament.
The Massapequa International softball team knows they have their first game on Monday at 7 p.m. However, the opponent is yet to be decided. They'll take on the winner of Sunday's matchup between Italy and Connecticut.

A fundraiser has been set up so the family of Massapequa's 12 and under girls' team can accompany them to Greenville, North Carolina.
A GoFundMe page was approaching $10,000 in donations as of early Thursday afternoon. Funds would help "defray travel costs of family members such as transportation, hotels [and] meals," the page said.
