The bird was found a week ago stuck in a bush, and was rehabilitated and released back into the Massapequa Preserve.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A young bald eagle took flight for the first time in Massapequa Thursday after his first try landed him in trouble.
Newsday reported on the bird's flight, which took place at the Massapequa Preserve, where bald eagles now nest. The young eagle, who was about three and a half months old, was found a week ago in a bramble bush by a dog walker at the preserve. It had failed its first flight and wound up in the bush.
The bird was rescued by wildlife rehabilitators, who helped nurse it back to health.
