MASSAPEQUA, NY — A dilapidated zombie home in Massapequa has been demolished, the Town of Oyster Bay.

The property on Alhambra Road was recently granted for demolition after years of neglect and complaints from neighbors.

"Inspectors repeatedly found various signs of neglect, from severely damaged or even missing walls to destroyed and collapsed ceilings, as well as overall deterioration," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said.

Town inspections discovered a variety of code violations, including overgrown vegetation, deterioration or lack of walls and/or insulation and debris strewn throughout the property. The Town’s Quality of Life Taskforce continued all efforts to keep the property safe in the surrounding neighborhood while pursuing legal action.
