2 Hurt, Including Child In School Bus Crash On Long Island: Police

The bus was rear-ended by an SUV, police say.

MEDFORD, NY — Two people, including a seven-year-old girl, were taken to local hospitals after a school bus was struck from behind by a Sport Utility-vehicle on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police say.

The school bus was traveling eastbound on Granny Road, and was making a right turn onto Cedarhurst Road when it was struck from behind by a 2008 Ford SUV driven by a 59-year-old Medford man on October 29 at around 4 p.m., according to police.

The man and a seven-year-old girl on the school bus sustained minor injuries, police said. The man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, and the girl was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, according to police.

In a second similar incident nearby, three cars involved in a minor crash at the intersection of Hospital Road and Woodside Avenue in East Patchogue, also at around 4 p.m., but no one was injured, police said.
