8 Drivers Cited, 6 Vehicles Impounded In Suffolk: Police

Drivers were performing reckless activities in their vehicles, including drifting and burnouts, police say.

MEDFORD, NY — Suffolk police cited eight drivers for performing reckless activities in their vehicles, including drifting and burnouts, the department said. Six vehicles were impounded Thursday night in Medford, police said.

A 911 caller reported drag racing activities in progress on National Boulevard near Munsell Road in
Medford at 9:51 p.m., police said.

Members of the Street Racing Task Force were first to arrive on the scene and observed approximately eight vehicles engaging in reckless behavior and spectating, police said. All vehicles were stopped safely, police said.

All involved drivers were issued multiple citations, 38 in total, police said.

The drivers are set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 4.
