Pedestrian Seriously Injured By Impaired Driver On Long Island: Police
A woman was arrested for driving while ability impaired after she crashed into a pedestrian on Long Island early Sunday morning.
MEDFORD, NY — A Long Island woman was arrested for driving while ability impaired after her vehicle hit and seriously injured a pedestrian in Medford early Sunday morning, according to Suffolk County police.
Tia Gardner, 26, of Mastic, was driving a 2024 Hyundai Kona eastbound on Express Drive South, just east of Exit 64, when the vehicle struck a man who was crossing the road around 12:35 a.m., police said.
The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Officers determined that Gardner was impaired, arrested her, and charged her with driving while ability impaired, police said.
She was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 27, police said.
