South Huntington Teacher Accused Of Inappropriate Relationship With Student
A teacher in the South Huntington School District was arrested on May 25 for having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students, Suffolk Police say. According to authorities, police began an investigation into the conduct of Walt Whitman High School social studies teacher Brian Dreher, 41, of Huntington Station. The investigation discovered he was having an inappropriate relationship with one of his 16-year-old female students, police say.
Overlook on the Beach, the Long Beach location of the popular Overlook bar in Manhattan, will not be returning to its seaside location this year due to a dispute with the location's landlord, the bar/restaurant announced on its Facebook Tuesday. The Overlook posted on Facebook that the landlord of its Long Beach location, located at 5 New York Ave., declined to renew the lease with Overlook.
Huntington Man Killed By Collapsed Cesspool
It took responders nearly seven hours to remove a Huntington man's body from a collapsed cesspool in Huntington on May 24, police say. According to Suffolk County Police, a crew was installing a cesspool at a home on Beech Place when the ground gave way, trapping 59-year-old Edward Sinnott underground, at 12:50 p.m. He was pulled from the hole just before 7 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brownstones Coffee Reopens After Two Year Closure
After almost two years, the popular coffee shop Brownstones finally re-opened up their Amityville restaurant on Wednesday. Brownstones, located on 55 Merrick Road, shut down in August 2015 after a fire broke out at the restaurant. On Tuesday night, owners Manny and Chris finally announced the reopening of the coffee shop on and the restaurant opened its doors on May 24.
