Four Brookhaven retail store workers were arrested Monday as part of an undercover State Police underage drinking operation.
The New York State Police Riverside barracks conducted an underage drinker enforcement operation in Brookhaven Monday when four establishments were cited for selling alcoholic beverages to an undercover State Police operative, according to a press release.
James R. Bonti, 66, of Shirley, a clerk at Country Deli on Middle Country Road in Ridge; Saeed Alam, 53, of Medford, a clerk at 7-Eleven on Middle Country Road in Ridge; Grazyna Podniesinka, 59, of West Babylon, owner of Gram Wine & Liquors on Middle Country Road in Middle Island, and Muhammad Gulzar, 32, of Middle Island, a clerk at Shell on MIddle Country Road in Middle Island, were all arrested and charged with unlawful dealing with a child in the second degree and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage.

The defendants were issued tickets to appear at Suffolk County First District Court at a later date.
Other retailers checked and found in compliance included BP Gas Mart and Harvest Moon Deli, both located on Middle Country Road in Ridge, and Father & Son Wine & Liquor and BP Gas Mart, both located on Middle Country Road in Middle Island.
