Baldwin Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old: Police
Police say the shooting took place after the man attempted to enter a house party at a rented property in Hempstead.
MINEOLA, NY. — An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal Nov. 22 shooting of 19-year-old Amira McCleod, police announced Wednesday morning.
Nassau County police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Baldwin resident Jacob Mcmillan Wednesday, saying Mcmillan would be charged with one count of second-degree murder, one count of second-degree attempted murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, as well as a burglary charge stemming from a September incident in Nassau County. Police said Mcmillan had a prior arrest on his record for criminal possession of stolen property.
Homicide detective George Darienzo said the shooting happened just before 11 p.m. on Nov. 22, after an altercation broke out when Mcmillan attempted to enter a house party at a rented property. Darienzo said Mcmillan backed away from the host of the house party and fired three shots, one of which struck the Queens native McCleod, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two 20-year-old men were also struck in the shooting and hospitalized; Darienzo said police would not be identifying them publicly. Darienzo said the gun used in the shooting had not been recovered,
