Bellmore-Merrick Students Participate in Adelphi Writer's Retreat

Incoming Mepham High School seniors Lauren Carron and Arianna Miller, recently participated in the Alice Hoffman Young Writer's Retreat at Adelphi University. 

Now in its tenth season, the week-long summer retreat on Adelphi’s main campus in Garden City features intensive creative writing workshops with Adelphi faculty, accomplished writers and artists and English education graduate students.

Carron and Miller were recommended for the program by their English and Creative Writing teacher, Nicole Maresca.
 
“They are very talented writers who are dedicated to honing their craft," Maresca said. "I knew they would have a place among such a diverse community of poets and authors."

Miller said that she valued the experience.

“There is something truly enjoyable about working with people who love writing as much as I do,” she said.

Carron agreed. 

“I only wish the program was longer,” she said. "I love having something like this to keep my pen going."
