Cops: Father and Son from East Meadow Scammed Car Buyers
Mileage had been altered on several cars, including one that had been changed by nearly 200,000 miles, police said.

A father and son from East Meadow scammed car buyers by altering mileage and paperwork, according to Nassau County Police.
Cory Vlado, 45, and Steve Vlado, 29, were each charged with third-degree grand larceny, two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, and first-degree scheming to defraud, police said.
Investigators found the odometers and corresponding titles had been changed on five of six cars that were for sale, cops said. The mileage on one car had been altered to the tune of 197,000 miles, police said.

Previous buyers were also victimized in the scam, which had been set up on the private property of a vacant retail business at 2807 Hempstead Turnpike, cops said.
The pair will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Detectives are asking anyone who may be a victim to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
