- Alex Costello tells us that a Hofstra University writing professor will be one of the first contestants in the new Professors Tournament on Jeopardy! on Dec. 6. Dr. Lisa Dresner is an associate professor of writing studies. (Patch)
- Jordan Vallone shares that Congregation Ohav Shalom in Merrick celebrated the arrival and completion of a new Sefer Torah. It took more than a year to complete and was gifted by the family of Samuel Adwar, a longtime Merrick resident and congregation member who died last year at 85. (LI Herald)
- The Daily Voice reports that a routine traffic stop of a BMW SUV in Inwood led to the arrest of two teenagers on weapons charges after they were found with a defaced pistol. They were stopped on Sheridan Boulevard. (Daily Voice)
