Grand Avenue Students Transition Into New School Year
The school hosts an annual assembly for new pupils.

As a way to transition into the new school year, students in the seventh and eighth grade at Grand Avenue Middle School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District recently attended team academic assemblies.
The annual meetings enable students to come together in their teams--with four teams composing one grade--and learn more about the upcoming school year.
Seventh-graders gained a better understanding of what is expected of them and were able to become more comfortable in their new environment, while eighth-graders had expectations reinforced and school-related opportunities reviewed.
“This is the beginning of us here at Grand Avenue," Assistant Principal James Mollica said. "Your teachers, your administrators, all of the adults in the building are starting to mold you into productive members of society. We want you to understand the difference between right and wrong, positive and negative, and to make healthy decisions.”
