Hochul Awards Over $20 Million For Nassau County Bridge Projects
The funding is part of $500 million given to counties across the state to restore or rebuild bridges.

ALBANY, NY — Gov. Hochul has awarded more than half-billion dollars in funding to support or rebuild dozens of bridges across the state.
Two Nassau County projects are on the list.
More than $8.7 million goes to the superstructure replacement of the Hempstead Avenue bridge over Pine Brook in West Hempstead.

In Merrick, $12.3 million is being set aside for the rehabilitation of the Merrick Road bridge over Whale Neck Creek.
"New York State is making historic investments to modernize our infrastructure and we are committed to working with our partners in local government to help ensure that their bridges and culverts are ready to meet the challenges of global climate change," Hochul said.

The allotments go toward all phases of the projects, including design, right-of-way acquisition and construction. The BRIDGE NY program provides essential funding directly to local governments to enhance the safety, resiliency, sustainability and reliability of local infrastructure.
