JFK Junior Lands Elite Internship
Bellmore-Merrick's Sophia Beren was selected to conduct history research at New York City archives.

Sophia Beren, an 11th-grader at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has been selected to participate in the New York Historical Society’s Scholars Program for Teens, an internship program that attracts history-minded high school students to conduct research at New York City libraries and archives.
Beren will join a host of other students this summer choosing a topic relevant to New York’s history and exploring that topic extensively with rare historical resources at hand, including artifacts, manuscripts, drawings and microfiche films.
Beren will also get the chance to help the New York Historical Society partner with Literary Manhattan, an organization dedicated to promoting New York’s rich literary history by thoroughly researching significant moments and locations of literary merit. To conduct her research, Beren will have access to the archives from the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library, one of the oldest independent research libraries in the United States.
