Verizon Outage In NY Reportedly Leaves Thousands Without Service

NEW YORK — A Verizon outage left many without the ability to make calls or utilize data across New York and the nation Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.

Verizon addressed the issue with a post on X Wednesday afternoon: "We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience."

Downdetector, which lists user-submitted reports of outages, indicated that thousands of users could be impacted Wednesday afternoon.

Many reported seeing "SOS" on their phones.
