JFK runner Tillman Earns High School Heisman

Senior honored for success on and off the cross-country track.

John F. Kennedy High School cross-country runner Alexis Tillman was selected as a Wendy’s High School Heisman state winner, the only student in Nassau County chosen for the honor.

The award is given to a high school senior who is dedicated to learning, leading and performing in their school and community.

β€œShe is a fierce competitor and was the cross-country team’s co-captain and MVP,” said head girls varsity cross- country coach and English teacher Michael P. Cooney. β€œAlexis (made) all-conference and all-county this season and was a wonderful role model for the team not only while running on the course, but inside the classroom as well.”
