Merrick Restaurant Stays Shut Following Front Window Car Crash

Sufiya's Grill on Merrick Road is "closed until further notice," the restaurant said.

MERRICK, NY — The future of a popular Merrick restaurant is uncertain following a car crash on its property.

Sufiya's Grill on Merrick Road has been shut since the collision into the front window on May 15.

The restaurant posted a sign over protective plywood says they are "closed until further notice."

Another remnant of the crash, a leaning pole was secured against another pole.

One person in the car suffered minor injuries. No one was hurt in the restaurant, police said.

Customers are encouraged to use their East Meadow eatery for pickup or online orders, the restaurant said.

"Thank you for continued support," the sign says.

The Town of Hempstead also posted an Unsafe Structure Warning, and told "Do not enter."
