Merrick's Grillfire Set To Close For Reasons 'Beyond Our Control'
The restaurant's final day in business is Jan. 15.

MERRICK, NY — George Martin's Grillfire is closing next week. The Merrick restaurant announced on Facebook that "due to circumstances beyond our control" they'll shut down on Jan. 15.
The owners have been at the Merrick Road location for 30 years, with the switch to Grillfire in 2006.
Grillfire served comfort food staples like macaroni and cheese and meatloaf. Rather than a bread basket, each table was given a jumbo pretzel with dipping mustard. At the end of the meal, customers enjoyed a free chunk of cotton candy, made fresh each time.
