5. Merrick Restaurant Reopens After Destroyed By Hurricane Sandy: AcQua, a waterfront restaurant that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy last year reopens.

4. Resignation of MAMS Teacher Sparks More Protests: Roughly 50 students and parents started more protests in support of Stefan Serie, a Merrick Avenue Middle School health teacher and coach who claimed that he was forced to resign after appearing on an episode of the Bravo reality show, "Princesses: Long Island."

3. Police: Men Found with 21 Envelopes of Heroin: Two men were arrested in Merrick  after allegedly being found with 21 glassine envelopes of heroin.

2. Police: Merrick Man Stole Thousands in Sports Memorabilia: Adam D. Gibson, 29, of Merrick was arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of sports memorabilia from a Westbury store in July.
