The Museum of American Armor welcomes Craig Allen as its official meteorologist and weather historian

The Museum of American Armor today announced the appointment of Craig Allen of Merrick as its official meteorologist, bringing his extensive and award-winning weather expertise to enhance the museum's educational programming and special events.
Allen, a respected meteorologist with four decades of experience in forecasting and meteorological education, will work with the museum to develop weather-related historical content that highlights how meteorological conditions have influenced military operations throughout American history.
"Weather has played a crucial role in military campaigns since the earliest days of warfare," said Museum President and founder Lawrence Kadish. "Craig Allen's expertise will allow us to add an important educational dimension to our exhibits and programming, helping visitors understand how military commanders have had to adapt their strategies to ever-changing weather conditions."

"I'm honored to join the Museum of American Armor team," said Allen. "Weather forecasting has evolved alongside military technology, and I look forward to helping tell the fascinating story of how meteorological science has influenced American military operations from the Revolutionary War to modern conflicts."
Mr. Allen is an award-winning meteorologist whose weather reports were heard on WCBS Newsradio 880 for over forty years until it went off the air. He has continued to provide the CBS News Radio Network with briefings and in-depth coverage of major weather events and he has also returned to CBS News-New York as an occasional First Alert forecaster for CBS2. He is also providing Bloomberg Radio with in depth reports during severe weather events.
Allen is a graduate of Farmingdale High School and a Merrick resident. He earned his bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University in 1979.
His work with the Armor Museum
The Museum of American Armor houses one of the nation's most impressive collections of operational military vehicles and exhibits that honor American servicemen and women. The addition of Allen to the museum's team reflects the institution's ongoing commitment to providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of all factors that have shaped American military history.
Allen will begin his association with the museum immediately, with special educational programming to be announced in the coming weeks in cooperation with Gloria Sesso, president of the Long Island Council for the Social Studies, and museum trustee, Colonel Jason Halloren (ret.), former Deputy Commandant at West Point.
