Northwell Health and The Academy Charter School Inspire Future Leaders

Northwell Health's Center for Learning & Innovation (CLI) is proud to partner with The Academy Charter School (ACS) to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals through its MedVoyage program. This transformative initiative will provide 25 motivated students from ACS’ Uniondale high school campus with a unique platform to explore the vast and dynamic possibilities of careers in healthcare, gain hands-on exposure, and connect with Northwell’s innovative practices.

"We're excited to welcome The Academy Charter School into MedVoyage," said Brian Aquart, Vice President, Workforce & Community Education at Northwell Health. "Our mission is to spark curiosity and career ambition in young minds by providing them with hands-on experiences that highlight the wide array of opportunities within the healthcare industry. Through this partnership, we aim to cultivate a new generation of healthcare leaders who are inspired and prepared to make meaningful contributions."

As part of the program, students from ACS will partner with LIJ Valley Stream Hospital and visit key Northwell Health locations, including the Center for Emergency Services, Core Laboratories, the Center for Learning & Innovation, and the Institute for Nursing. During these visits, students will participate in guided tours, engage with healthcare professionals, and gain insight into the daily operations of New York State’s largest healthcare provider and private employer.

Dr. Tameka Pierre-Louis, Network Ambassador of Career and Technical Education-STEM at The Academy Charter School, shared her thoughts on the partnership, stating, "This opportunity is truly transformative for our students. Programs like MedVoyage not only expand their understanding of the healthcare field but help build the confidence needed to see themselves thriving in these spaces. Our goal is to empower them with the skills, exposure, and confidence to pursue meaningful careers that align with their passions and potential."
