Forever 9-The Robbie Levine Foundation has announced it will hold the 11th Annual Robbie’s Run on Sunday, May 22nd in Merrick.

Sponsored by Coleman Country Day Camp and PremierCare/CityMD, the 5K Run and family fun day has raised thousands of dollars to supply youth sports organizations across the New York area with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Founded in 2005, Forever 9 sponsors the annual Robbie’s Run to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death and how AEDs save lives.

Robbie’s Run is a 5K road race through the streets of Merrick that was created following the tragic death of nine-year-old Robbie Levine on the Little League Field. The event will again take place at the Norman J. Levy-Lakeside Elementary School on Babylon Road in Merrick. The day’s activities include a kids’ Fun Run at 8:30am, 1-mile Mini Run at 8:50am and the 5K Race at 9:15am. Each year thousands of people attend the Robbie’s Run to show their support for Forever 9’s mission.

Forever 9-The Robbie Levine Foundation was started in 2005 after the tragic death of nine-year-old Robbie Levine, who collapsed and died on the baseball field during Little League practice. Had a defibrillator been available and accessible on the field, Robbie might have survived. Following this tragedy, Robbie’s parents, Jill and Dr. Craig Levine, put their energies into raising awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in children and the importance of defibrillators in saving lives. Forever 9’s goals are to educate the public about defibrillators and to ensure that these life-saving devices are available and accessible at every youth sporting event. The organization holds three fundraisers, the 5K Robbie’s Run race and walk in Merrick, NY, the Dealing With Hearts Gala and the Golf & Tennis Outing.
