Teen Bicyclist Hospitalized After He's Hit By Car In Merrick

Nassau County police said the collision happened around 9:40 p.m. Friday near Sunrise Highway and Merrick Avenue.

MERRICK, NY — A 14-year-old bicyclist suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car in Merrick on Friday, authorities said.

According to Nassau County police, the collision happened around 9:40 p.m. near Sunrise Highway and Merrick Avenue. Police said a 41-year-old man driving a Ford truck was driving west on Sunrise Highway when he collided with the teen who traveling north on Merrick Avenue.

Police said the teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the truck was uninjured. He remained at the scene following the crash, police said.
