Teen Dies When SUV Crashes Into Tree On Long Island: Police

The 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, Nassau police say.

MERRICK, NY — A teenager died when the SUV he was driving crashed into a tree in Merrick early Sunday morning, Nassau police said.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2021 Honda CRV southbound on Merrick Avenue when it collided with a tree at around 2:20 a.m., police said, adding that he was pronounced at scene.

The investigation is ongoing by 7th Squad detectives, police said.
