Two Pedestrians Struck by Car in Merrick
Male and female victims suffered only minor injuries after being struck by sedan while crossing Sunrise Highway.

Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while crossing Sunrise Highway in Merrick late Saturday night, but suffered only minor injuries, Nassau County Police said.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., a male and female were attempting to cross Sunrise Highway at the intersection of Merrick Avenue when they were struck by the driver of a sedan, according to a Nassau County police officer who responded to the scene of the accident. The responding police officer said both pedestrian victims suffered some cuts and scrapes and were transported to an area hospital.
The police officer at the scene said it was not immediately known how fast the car was traveling at the moment of impact, but no charges are expected against the driver. The exact ages of the pedestrians were not immediately available.
