14 Taken To Hospitals In Early Morning I-87 Transit Van Rollover Crash: NYSP

SAUGERTIES, NY — The New York State Police said that they are investigating a rollover crash that took place early Saturday morning on I-87 in Ulster County.

On Saturday, around 3:57 a.m., a 2016 Ford Transit livery van was traveling north on I-87, near milepost marker 100 in the Town of Saugerties, when it left the roadway and rolled over off the right shoulder.

According to state police, there were 14 adults in the commercial van, including the driver.

The driver, who police identified as 65-year-old Michael Blue, of Winchester, Virginia, was taken to Northern Dutchess Hospital for evaluation and reported no injuries.

After an investigation, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit found no equipment violations.

Police say that the cause of the crash appears to be driver inattention, and the investigation remains ongoing.

State police were assisted at the scene by Ulster County emergency responders, including Ulster EMS, Esopus EMS, and the Saugerties Fire Department.
