14-Year-Old Arrested For Fake School Shooting Threat

The boy used another student's cell phone to call in the threat to 911, police said.

PINE BUSH, NY — A student at Pine Bush High School was arrested after being accused of falsely calling in a school threat.

The New York State Police and Town of Crawford Police Department said Thursday a 14-year-old boy from the town of Wallkill was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.

Authorities said the arrest was the result of an investigation at the Pine Bush High School on Wednesday.

The child was issued a family court appearance ticket and released to the custody of his parents.

At 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Orange County 911 received a call about a shooter in the school.

Numerous law enforcement agencies throughout the county responded and quickly determined that the call was unfounded.

The investigation revealed that the 14-year-old boy called 911 using another student’s cell phone and reported a shooter was in the school.

It was determined there was no threat to the students or the public.

State police and Crawford police were assisted by law enforcement agencies, fire departments and emergency medical services throughout the county.
