14-Year-Old Boy Shot In Groin Gave 'Contradictory' Stories: Police
Newburgh police said they believe the gunshot may have been self-inflicted by the teenager who was injured.
CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY — An investigation into the shooting of a teenager is now focusing on the possibility that the shooting was self-inflicted, according to detectives.
The City of Newburgh Police Department says that officers responded to Robinson Avenue on Monday, around 3 p.m., after an alert for gunshots fired.
Once on the scene, police found a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his groin area.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures. The victim was taken to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, and then later taken to Westchester Medical Center.
The victim, who is a student in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, was interviewed and gave contradictory accounts about what happened, according to detectives.

Police say that detectives are pursuing a lead suggesting that the 14-year-old may have self-inflicted the gunshots.
