15-Year-Old Arrested For Hudson Valley Burger King Burglary: Police

PORT JERVIS, NY — An after-hours visit to a Hudson Valley fast food restaurant has landed a New Jersey teenager in hot water, according to police.

City of Port Jervis Police Department Chief William Worden announced the arrest of a 15-year-old from Mahwah, New Jersey, in the burglary of a Burger King last month.

On March 21, at 2:18 a.m., the City of Port Jervis Police Department responded to a commercial burglary alarm activation at the Burger King located on Pike Street. The alarm company reported several motion activations, including those in the dining room, kitchen, and drive-up window.

Once on the scene, patrol officers saw lights on in the dining room, as well as the teen throwing items around the restaurant, officials said. He then ran out of the restaurant toward the train tracks, according to cops.

Police say that after a short foot pursuit, the boy was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Port Jervis police say the 15-year-old was petitioned to the Orange County Family Court as a juvenile delinquent for acts that, if committed by an adult, would constitute the crimes of felony second-degree criminal mischief, felony third-degree burglary, and misdemeanor attempted petit larceny.
