ORANGE COUNTY, NY — Fake feds extorted thousands of dollars from a Hudson Valley victim, according to state police.
New York State Police say that on Monday, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Monroe arrested 34-year-old Wei Baoguo and 38-year-old Yu Sheng Gui, both of Brooklyn, for felony third-degree grand larceny.
Police say the two suspects contacted a 27-year-old victim and falsely claimed to be FBI agents. They told the victim that he would be arrested unless he paid them $15,000. The victim agreed to meet with the suspects and provided the requested amount of money, according to NYSP.
