2 Black Bear Cubs Rescued Near Pawling Railroad Station
Wildlife rehabilitators determined the cubs were in good condition and were expected to recover.

PAWLING, NY — Two bear cubs were rescued last month near the Metro-North Railroad station in Pawling.
The Department of Environmental Conservation police said they received reports about the two black bears that were stranded and motherless near the railroad.
A DEC officer and a railroad employee walked about one-half mile down the tracks to where the cubs were seen.

The cubs were eventually found huddled together in nearby bushes.
The officer and railroad employee managed to get control of them, wrapping the pair up in a hooded sweatshirt.

Wildlife rehabilitators from Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center determined the cubs were in good condition and were expected to recover.
