2 Dead After 2-Vehicle, Head-On Collision In Ulster County: Police

A Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Kings Highway, early Thursday, when it crossed into the northbound lane, striking a Ford F-150.

SAUGERTIES, NY — An early morning crash on the Kings Highway has claimed the lives of two, according to police.

The Saugerties Police Department says that on October 9, around 5:27 a.m., officers responded to the Kings Highway, in the area of Sinsapaugh Lane, after receiving a report of a head-on personal injury vehicle collision.

Once at the scene, police found two vehicles in the northbound lane of the Kings Highway. The Saugerties Police Department, along with the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, launched a crash investigation.

A 2023 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 65-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, was traveling south on Kings Highway when it crossed into the northbound lane, striking a 2022 Ford F-150 driven by a 19-year-old man from Lake Katrine, according to initial findings.

Police say the 65-year-old driver and a 61-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old man was taken to Health Alliance Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the incident is still under investigation, but at this time, no tickets or arrests are anticipated.

The Saugerties Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, New York State Police, the Mount Marion Fire Department, the Centerville Cedar-Grove Fire District, Diaz Ambulance, and the Ulster County Medical Examiner's Office.
