2 Women Accused Of Having Edibles Laced With Magic Mushrooms

Police said they had initially been stopped on the Thruway for a vehicle and traffic violation.

NEW PALTZ, NY — Two Ulster County women were accused of having illegal drugs after being stopped on the Thruway.

The New York State Police said troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of New Paltz around 2:45 a.m. Saturday for a vehicle and traffic violation.

While speaking to the women, the trooper said there was probably cause to search the vehicle.

The driver, Jackilynn M. Boss, 21, of Kingston, and the passenger, Kacey A. Miller, 21, of Port Ewen, were found to be in possession of about 141 grams of edibles infused with psilocybin mushrooms and a scale, police said.

The women were taken into custody and were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felonies, and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

They were arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court and release on their own recognizance.

Boss and Miller are scheduled to return to court Sept. 6.
