26-Year-Old Arrested In Connection To March 6th Shooting
After an earlier Shotspotter notification, Newburgh police were were contacted about a gunshot victim at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital.
CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY — A curious shooting case has been solved with the arrest of a Newburgh man, police have announced.
The City of Newburgh Police Department received a Shotspotter notification on March 6, around 7:52 p.m., in the area of Liberty St. Soon after, police were notified that a 33-year-old man had arrived at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital with a gunshot wound.
He survived his injuries.

The incident was investigated by the City of Newburgh Detective Division and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force.
On March 15, detectives arrested 26-year-old Leshawn X. Hamilton, of the City of Newburgh, in connection to the shooting.

He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force is a joint investigative collaboration between the City of Newburgh Detective Division, Orange County District Attorney's Office Investigators, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
