3 Kids In The Car When Poughkeepsie Man Arrested For Felony DWI: NYSP

Kids, ages 1, 8, and 12, were in the car in Wappinger, and the driver had a BAC of .22 percent, according to state troopers.

TOWN OF WAPPINGER, NY — A Dutchess County man was arrested for potentially putting the lives of three children at risk, according to state troopers.

New York State Police say that on April 18, a trooper from Wappinger stopped a 2016 Acura traveling on Old Post Road, in the Town of Wappinger.

While talking to the driver, identified as 42-year-old Jordan T. White, of Poughkeepsie, the trooper noticed signs of intoxication. White was then administered standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed, officials said.

The trooper noted that three children, ages 1, 8, and 12, were also in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

White was arrested and taken to SP Wappinger for processing, where he provided a breath sample resulting in a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.22 percent, more than two-and-a-half-times the legal limit, police said.

White was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger (Leandra's Law), misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court on April 29.
