$40K Embezzled From Preschool Spent On Luxury Goods, Vacations: Cops
The Chief Financial Officer at the Field of Dreams Preschool was charged with felony third degree grand larceny.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — An executive for a Hudson Valley preschool has been charged with stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the school.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says that 39-year-old Mariann DeBlock, also known as Mariann Weymer and formerly Mariann McCarthy, of Westtown, has been arrested after an investigation into unauthorized credit card transactions while she was Chief Financial Officer at the Field of Dreams Preschool.
Investigators say that between October 2021 and February 2023, DeBlock misused company credit cards for over $40,000 of personal expenses, including vacations and luxury goods.

"This arrest sends a clear message that financial crimes, especially those that exploit positions of trust, will not be tolerated in our county," Sheriff Paul Arteta said. "My office is committed to protecting our local businesses, particularly our schools, from being victimized by fraudulent activities. I commend our investigators and the Orange County White Collar Crimes Task Force for their dedication and hard work in bringing this case to light."
