5 Arrested In Drug Task Force Raid At A Hudson Valley Home

During the raid, Drug Task Force agents seized narcotics packaged for sale, scales, packaging and cash, according to authorities.

CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Drug Task Force said, "You call, we haul" after answering the public's call for action and executing a successful drug raid at a Dutchess County house.

The Dutchess County District Attorney's Office Drug Task Force and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit said they received information about drug activity and drug sales taking place at a home on North White Street, in the City of Poughkeepsie.

In addition, neighbors reportedly contacted the Drug Task Force confidential tip-line saying that they feared for their safety due to narcotic and dangerous drug dealers operating out of the address.

As part of the investigation, the Drug Task force began to purchase narcotics from Jeremyah Newton, at the North White Street address and at other locations nearby, investigators said.

On Thursday, the Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit (CSU), executed a search warrant at the address. During the raid, Drug Task Force agents seized narcotics packaged for sale, scales, packaging and cash.

Five suspects were arrested and arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court:

Jeremyah Newton, 18, was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (weight), felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell), and felony fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with bail set. Authorities say that additional charges are pending against Newton.

Jaishaun Watterson-Suarez, 20, was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (weight), and felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell). He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail on an unrelated case, with a nominal bail of $1 set on the drug charges.

Jabari Gordon, 26, was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (weight), and felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell). He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with bail set.

Nicholas Brown, 28, was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (weight), and felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell). He was also wanted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department on misdemeanor charges. Brown was released after arraignment.

Shawn Magliocchino was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (weight), and felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell). He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with bail set.

The Drug Task Force says that it "will continue to react rapidly to community members' pleas for help when drug dealers infiltrate their neighborhoods to sell narcotics. The sale of narcotics and dangerous drugs fuels violent crime and the arrests during this investigation is a step in the right direction to keep the City of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County safer."

The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Patrol Bureau, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the Town of Hyde Park Police Department, and the New York State Police with the execution of the search warrant and arrests.
