POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A woman in Poughkeepsie was accused of causing the death of a Dutchess County veteran.

Dutchess County District Attorney William Grady said Thursday Camay Pryce was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, and driving while impaired by drugs in the death of Erin T. Clancy, 50, of Stanfordville.

Grady said a county grand jury returned an indictment April 6 charging Pryce, and an arrest warrant was issued for her on April 14.

The district attorney’s office said Pryce was ordered to surrender her passport and to be placed on electronic monitoring if released.

Clancy’s family was contacted by the district attorney’s office and advised of Pryce’s arrest and status.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 7, the New York State Police responded to a head-on collision on Route 44 at the intersection of Brown Road in the town of Pleasant Valley, resulting in one fatality.

The investigation determined that a car driven by Pryce was traveling east on Route 44 in the westbound lane.

Police said Pryce was trying to pass two vehicles that were also traveling east on the highway.

After passing the first vehicle, Pryce’s car stayed in the westbound lane, and while trying to pass the second car, she struck the vehicle being driven by Clancy.

According to his obituary, Clancy served in the United States Navy and was the youngest emergency medical technician in New York. He also served as a chaplain for veterans.

He was married and had three children.
