Arrest Made In Double Fatal Stabbing In Hudson Valley: Police

A 30-year-old man is facing murder and manslaughter charges, according to authorities.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A 30-year-old Middletown man was arrested after being accused of fatally stabbing two people with whom he lived.

The City of Middletown Police Department said, on Monday, it received a report that a man had been stabbed in the area of 33 Ruth Court.

Responding officers found two men who had multiple stab wounds. One of the men was found on the sidewalk just outside 33 Ruth Court and the other was found inside the location.

Police said the man inside was dead, and the man outside had serious injuries.

He was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center by Empress EMS staff where he died of his injuries during surgery, according to authorities.

A man thought to be involved in the stabbings, identified as Kenol Baptiste, 30, of Middletown, was apprehended in a nearby wooded area by a City of Middletown Police K-9 team.

All three men lived at the location on Ruth Court, police said.

Baptiste was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

The names of two men who died have not been released pending notification of their families.

Police said that, at this time, no additional subjects are being sought in relation to this incident.

The City of Middletown Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
