Arrest Made In Fatal Poughkeepsie Stabbing: Police

Police said an autopsy determined the victim died of a single stab wound to the head.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — An arrest was made in a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday in the city of Poughkeepsie.

Around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, 911 received a call reporting someone had been stabbed at 25 South Grand Ave.

City of Poughkeepsie police officers responding to the scene found Dontay McKarl Brown, 24, of the city of Poughkeepsie had been stabbed once in the head.

Bystanders began lifesaving measures, and Brown was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, around 5:15 p.m. police said Andrew Alex Fraser, 32, of the city of Poughkeepsie, was arrested in Brooklyn with the assistance of the New York Police Department.

He was brought back to Poughkeepsie to await arraignment on a charge of second-degree murder.
