Bicyclist Killed When Struck By Car In Orange County

Police said the man fell off his bike onto the roadway and was then hit by a car.

MONTGOMERY, NY — A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a car in the village of Montgomery.

The New York State Police said, around 12:15 a.m. Monday, troopers, along with the Village of Montgomery Police Department, were sent to 414 Union St. in Montgomery for a report of a bicyclist struck by a car.

A preliminary investigation found that Andrew Schrank, 43, of Montgomery, was traveling north on his bicycle on Union Street when he fell off it into the roadway.

He was struck by a 2023 Nissan Altima that was also going north.

Schrank was taken by Town of Montgomery Ambulance Services to Garnet Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the Nissan’s driver was not impaired.
