Body Found In Abandoned Spring Valley Commercial Building: Police

The adult male's death is being investigated as a possible homicide, according to police.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — The body of an adult male was discovered Wednesday inside an abandoned commercial property in Spring Valley, and the case is being investigated as a possible homicide, police said.

A police officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a pedestrian Wednesday around 10 a.m.

The pedestrian reported there was a deceased person inside a building at 10 Centre St., according to Police Chief Richard Oleszczuk, who issued a press release Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they went to investigate and discovered the body of the adult male.

“While the investigation has commenced, it is too early to draw any definitive conclusions regarding a positive identification or circumstances,” police said in the release.

On its Facebook page, the department confirmed it is investigating the incident as a possible homicide. An autopsy will determine the man’s exact cause and manner of death.

Police on Wednesday had a large police presence at the site, on Centre Street near the intersection with East Church Street. Residents were asked to avoid the area while police investigated the scene.
