Body Found In Hudson River Was Missing National Guardsman: NYSP

Police, family and friends had been searching for Nicolas Faust since March 24.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A body found in the Hudson River off Waryas Park was Nicolas Faust, who had been missing since March 24, New York State police said.

"The New York State Police and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office have confirmed that the remains of Nicolas Faust were those located in the Hudson River on the Poughkeepsie shoreline on May 4, 2024. The investigation has determined that there was no evidence of foul play," police said in an announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Faust, 43, was last seen by friends in the Mill Street area of Poughkeepsie on March 24, around 2 a.m., according to police.

A sergeant in the National Guard, Faust, formerly of Marlborough and Peekskill, had been reported missing by his family and state police had issued a request for the public's help finding him.

The body was seen in the water at about 5 p.m. Saturday. Hundreds of people at the park watched firefighters recover it, according to Mid Hudson News.
